Lugar partners with Salvation Army to collect school supplies

The Salvation Army’s Tools for School program has decorated the windows of the Lugar Community Service Center to promote school preparedness and placed a drop box for school supplies in the office. 

“Ensuring Hoosier children have the proper supplies for a successful school year is vital to their future success,” said Lugar.  “I am pleased to partner with the Salvation Army and its Tools for School program to collect necessary school supplies.”
 
“The Salvation Army of Fort Wayne is very thankful for the concern and assistance that Senator Lugar is willing to give us by collecting and promoting for our Tools for School Program. It is support like this that will enable us to serve more than 1,100 youth with the right tools as they go back to school in the Fall,” said Major Mark Welsh, Allen County Salvation Army Coordinator. 

The display includes school supply lists for local districts, sample supplies and a drop box to collect donated school supplies for the Tools for School program.

Last year, the Salvation Army provided 1,171 children with supplemental school supplies, and this year they expect to have a record number of families register for assistance.  If you would like to help, donations may be dropped off at the Lugar Community Service Center Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
